Spineworks

Bones do not move by themselves.
Muscles move them.
Muscles do not move by themselves.
Nerves tell them.
Nerves do not give the instructions
by themselves.
The brain tells them.
Ian Jarvis - Spineworks

Spineworks works in co-operation with this process by asking the subconscious brain to reconnect to muscle that is in spasm and give it the instruction to relax. (Rather than use the therapist's own "massage" actions to release them.) In this way it is the subconscious of the person themselves that releases the spasm in the muscle. Thus it is more likely that the new state of the body remains.

You do not have to be in pain to benefit from a treatment. Spineworks is also preventative. All of us have a history of knocks and bumps, injuries and pain even though at the moment we are "fine". Now is the time to have a Maintenance Check - just as you would expect your car to have. The effects of all these knocks are slowly being stored up in your body - a Spineworks treatment will remove many of them just as your regular car service will remove potential problems with your vehicle.

How many of us (or someone we know) has said something like, "I just reached over to pick up a book and my back went"? This is, typically, the "last straw that broke the camel's back". So we take a look at the complete system of the person who is now in pain. So (despite its name*) Spineworks is a complete and holistic therapy - therapeutic and remedial.

Spineworks recognises that each person's body history is unique. The present pain is the result of that history. So 10 people with low-back pain will have 10 completely different and unique ways they developed that pain. It should not really be surprising then that they need 10 different treatments. Spineworks gives them that.

Spineworks puts the client first.

Once muscle spasm has been released any skeletal misalignments can be gently encouraged back. And that does not necessarily mean "where I think it should be". Each persons "norm" is different.

Many of my personal clients have been in chronic pain and "tried everything else" - allopathic, complementary, alternative. In the majority of these cases Spineworks has helped to ease or clear their pain. I can claim 90% success rate with these clients.

If you would like a treatment I work from my narrowboat at Trowbridge (07793 908 790), in Glastonbury (Bridget Centre 01458 833 317) and Bradford on Avon (Inspirations 01225 866 470 or Manu Centre 01225 309 014). If you live a distance away look at the Practitioners page or book a 2-hour treatment with me. Treatments with me cost £40 for one hour or £70 for two hours. Other practitioners will of course make their own charges. I also offer treatments in Athens usually on dates before and after the courses there; call NYSY Studio (Nikis 25)on 210 323 0004 (Greek and English spoken).

The training courses are aimed at practising therapists and are suitable as Continuing Professional Development (CPD). So if you are a therapist and are looking for another avenue to explore or wish to increase your skills, look at the Training for Practitioners and Courses pages. Check out the feedback page to see what students (all qualified in some other therapy) have said about the courses.
