Unlike
the Minor Arcana, or 'Numbered Suits', The Major Arcana (or Trumps) of
the Tarot represent the major turning points in our lives that we must
all go through in order to evolve, and journey through life... They are
the significant events that mould us, as opposed to the four numbered
suits that reflect the more day to day events that we live through. Significant,
dramatic, important... all these would describe the influences of the
Major Arcana.
There are 22 cards in all in this unique and unnumbered suit and they
incorporate the other four suits frequently, or not at all amongst their
number..... They can be broken down still further into three groups of
seven cards, plus 'The Fool who as 'The Traveller' journeys with us. The
first group of seven cards deals mainly with the material world and the
choices therein, be they personal, material, or educational. The next
seven deals with all matters spiritual and intuitive, with faith and love.
The last set of seven covers a combination of the first two, but shows
us that we can challenge and alter the paths we find ourselves on.
